Latest news! Participation in the IX EUROSAI Working Group on Municipality Audit (WGMA) Seminar held in Bucharest

In response to the invitation of the State Audit Office of Latvia, which chairs the EUROSAI Working Group on Municipality Audit (EUROSAI WGMA), a EURORAI delegation took part as observer in the 9th EUROSAI WGMA Seminar held in Bucharest last 23 September. The EURORAI delegation was made up of the President of EURORAI and Head of the Internal Audit Service of the Canton of Geneva, Charles Pict, and the Head of the General Secretariat, Edgar Thinnes.
The topic of this year’s seminar was “Local Government Own Revenues (Financial Autonomy): Between Unutilized Potential and Dependence on Transfers from the State Budget.”
The seminar was hosted by the Romanian Court of Audit and organized together with the State Audit Office of Latvia. The participants in the event came from 24 countries. The EUROSAI Task Force on Municipality Audit was set up in June 2016 by the EUROSAI Governing Board. It unites SAIs from 28 EUROSAI member states. Since 2017 EURORAI has an observer status at the EUROSAI TFMA.
The members of the EURORAI delegation will present a report on their participation in the event held in Bucharest to the EURORAI Management Committee at the next meeting to be held in Ponta Delgada on 15 October on the eve of the next seminar of the Association.
