In response to the invitation of the National Audit Office of Lithuania, who chairs the EUROSAI Task Force on Municipality Audit (EUROSAI TFMA) established in 2016, a EURORAI delegation took part as observer in the EUROSAI TFMA Seminar under the theme “Distribution of transfers and grants” and the 7th annual meeting of EUROSAI TFMA members held in Warsaw on 19 and 20 October 2023.

The EURORAI delegation was made up of the Chairman of EURORAI and President of the Audit Office of the Balearic Islands, Joan Rosselló Villalonga, the Representative for EU and international matters of the Court of Audit of Lower Austria, Franz Berger, and the Head of the General Secretariat, Edgar Thinnes.

The purpose of the seminar and the meeting was to exchange best practices among member countries and to search to attain the highest added value from municipality audit (the overall programme, a summary report of the seminar and the minutes of the meeting as well as all materials will be available soon under the following link: https://www.tfma.eu/). At the seminar under the theme “Distribution of transfers and grants”, the Chairman of EURORAI delivered a presentation (which can be downloaded here in its original version in English) on the topic “New challenges concerning internal control of subsidies and grants by local authorities in Spain”.

The seminar and the meeting were hosted by the Supreme Audit Office of Poland and organized together with the National Audit Office of Lithuania. The participants in the event came from 29 countries. The EUROSAI Task Force on Municipality Audit was set up in June 2016 by the EUROSAI Governing Board. It unites SAIs from 27 EUROSAI member states. Since 2017 EURORAI has an observer status at the EUROSAI TFMA.

The members of the EURORAI delegation will present a report on their participation in the event held in Warsaw to the EURORAI Management Committee at the next meeting to be held in Graz on 23 May 2024 on the day before the next seminar of the Association.
